Customer Reviews
Cut to fit and hung the two panels up in our 18month old's room (to block out the sun and heat - 80-90degF temps outside). Within two days the room took on a terrible smell - a mix of chemicals and what smelt like an electricl fire. It took a day or two to work out what it was but we had to remove them as I feared it was making my daughter sick - she started coughing and seemed very tired. Having checked out other customer reviews for Eclipse blackout curtains on other sites I discoverd the smell is a common problem. Do not buy these curtains if you are going to expose them to direct sunlight/heat. They do block out sunlight but not worth the money thanks to the smell.
I am appalled that people have complained about this item ; the description has not changed! You are not getting two 54" panels as you would think, but two panels that add up to 54". I'm not happy but I can't find any blackout curtains for less. So, I am buying another "pair" of 54" total curtains so I can span my 80" windows. To make matters worse, it says you can iron out wrinkles with a "coolish" iron; not true at all It didn't even flatten the wrinkles. I am going to try using some water on a wrinkle in a non-obvious place to see if that works first. Oh ; its not made out of foam like they say either. I was expecting ones like the curtains I have in my living room: two pieces of fabric--one made of canvas like material-with a thin foam center. Instead, its more like fabric-lined soft plastic. I will try these out, but I'm never buying from Eclipse again.
I'm concerned with people's comments on the fumes ; smell it gives off in the heat. I am hoping the blinds in front of the curtains will avoid that...otherwise I may have to buy new curtains! I won't know until summer though!
Just go to another site ; try to find black out panels. The selection on Amazon.com right now is pitiful ; this company's products are not what they advertise. Would not buy again.
