I bought these because of their fire-retardant properties and for their thermal purposes. Obviously I'm not going to try lighting them on fire to to test them out, but I will say that they do seem to help keep some of the heat inside when I used them on a VERY drafty window.
If you're looking for something that will be aesthetically pleasing, however, I would not recommend these. Unless you're some kind of master with an iron, they probably won't look as nice as the photos on amazon. The best comparison I can make would be to the type of thick vinyl that is used for tarps.
I was hoping for a nice thermal curtain for the half-window in my door. I don't mind that it's not light-blocking, but it's pretty flimsy, and the whole curtain, front and back, feels like vinyl. Not exactly what I was expecting. Spend more money, and get a more substantial curtain.
