Customer Reviews
Our bedroom, which has big sliding doors leading to a balcony, was always freezing in winter. These curtains are truly effective insulation. (They're excellent light-blockers, too.) They're OK-looking -- the fabric is thick and a bit sueded-seeming -- but not super high-end-feeling. They were, however, the most inoffensive, functional drapes I found, and I looked a lot. I found complaints online about thermal curtains with a white backing -- apparently they can off-gas and smell toxic -- but these have the heat-and-light insulating properties woven into the fabric itself and are stank-free. I miss our swanky crushed-velvet curtains, but I don't miss shivering all winter.
The fabric is a medium-weight polyester with a weave twill on the face and satin weave back. Keep in mind that satin weave can snag. It has a soft hand and nice drape but is very synthetic-y. I put them in the dryer three times with a wet wash cloth and most of the wrinkles came out. They have black yarns woven in the middle that you can only see when it unravels. I hung these from ceiling to floor over windows and around a bunkbed. The purple is very rich and does seem to block 99% of the light. Since these do not have a white blackout lining, these are good for applications where the back is part of the decor, like around the bunkbed. But, I lined the panels over the windows so I don't see purple on the outside of the house.
